The best way to See Loch Lomond is on a Sweeney’s Cruise from nearby Balloch. Sail past islands and learn more about the largest expanse of freshwater in the UK.

 
Climb Ben Lomond

Climb Ben Lomond

Rowardennan is a 30-minute scenic Lochside drive from the cottages. Climb Scotland’s most southerly Munro for magnificent views of Loch Lomond.

 
Climb Conic Hill, Loch Lomond

Climb Conic Hill

Less of a climb than Ben Lomond, but with equally stunning views. The car park for Conic Hill is just 15 minutes away from the cottages at Balmaha.

Cycling at Loch Lomond shores

Shop, eat & play at Loch Lomond Shores

Loch Lomond Shores is 20 minutes away at Balloch, there’s lots to see and do with shops and activities. There are regular food and drink festivals, plus Sunday markets.

 

Tour a distillery

Two superb distillery are nearby with Glengoyne Distillery just 15 mins away & Deanston Distillery in the Trossachs 35 miles away. Enjoy a tour and a wee dram.

Cruise on Loch Katrine

Loch Katrine is 35 minutes away, with bike rental at Trossachs Pier. You can combine a cruise with a cycle, taking a bike on board and cycling back.

 

Visit Inchcailloch Island

Take the ferry from Balmaha to Inchcailloch Island, described as the jewel in the crown of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Balmaha is just 15 minutes drive from the cottages.

Zip slide through a forest

Drive to The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre at Aberfoyle (20 mins) and experience Go Ape! which includes Scotland’s longest zip slide to a forest adventure course.

 

Follow a Faerie Trail

One of the best local attractions for young children is the Luss Faerie Trail. Luss itself is well worth a visit, it’s a pretty village on the western shores of Loch Lomond.
